How To Speak Nortakotan !!!!!
How To Speak Nortakotan
I think my accent - what there is of it - comes from where I
was brought up, not so much my ancestry, which is Norwegian,
Czech, and German. People who live in North Dakota and Minnesota,
especially those who hail from the Northern regions of
these states, have a special way of talking.
I've decided that it's probably from visiting
in below zero temperatures. Those of you who don't
understand should try this. Go outside with a friend when
it's thirty degrees below zero and start talking with
each other. At first you won't notice any difference,
but as you continue and you get colder you'll notice
that you are starting to talk faster and you drop some of
the letters in some of the words.
You'll also find that your dialect changes as you try
to talk and stop your teeth from chattering at the same time.
After many years of this you will find that you start to talk
like this even when you aren't freezing.
This may make the point more clear. I have included that
translation just in case you can't read the language.
