A Honeymoon Poem - By Jon

It starts in a candle-lit room,
with thousands of rose pedals strewn.
You walk through the door
and you glide 'cross the floor
and are gowned by the light of the moon.
"Off to bed?"
"Not yet" I said
and justured toward the table
"How long a wait?"
"We'll wait for fate,
or as long as we are able."
A dinner filled with laughs and smiles
you grew all the more impatient
"This is taking quite a while..."
I interrupt - "shall we to the basement?"
Down the stairs and through the halls
where fireflies light the walls.
As you walk through the door something catches your ear;
you tilt your head up to see the crystal chandeleer.
I take your hand and we dance
to the music of romance.
We dance until we can no more
you say to me, "My feet are sore."
"You should not walk then." - I swept you up
"Jon, " you asked, "has fate shown up?"
Without a word, went to the room
with silk for sheets and sweet perfume.
I laid you down upon the bed
and single tear did you shed.
"We made it baby, here we are."
I'll never forget the night we wed.
