A Dreamers Wish
Now I set off to sleep
And hope for dreams of love most deep.
More than the physical joys to reap
But a love to set the soul on fire
A compelling vision of simple joy
That my heart and imagination do toy
But too soon morning will destroy
When reality dispels my heart desire
I don't worry about the coming morn
Or fear its bite like a troublesome thorn
Tonight my heart will sing, not mourn
With thoughts to which my soul does aspire.
You see, my heart is fueled by hope
On even the worse day, it helps me cope
And gives me strength to smile, not mope
For what I have so far failed to acquire
So now I set off to sleep
A promise made I hope to keep
To smile even when life's slope is steep
And have an open heart for love to inspire
