Re: Understanding men
I think a better title would be understanding people.
Yes, it is rude of him to simply start ignoring you. Though,
to be fair, There are women who do the same thing. Thier are
men out there who are jerks, there are men out there who are
surprisingly thoughtful. There are men out there who are
so, so. and on and on... Kin mind the same applies to women.
It is difficult for a person to relate to behaving a certain
way if it is outside theire experience, and this makes it
difficult for them to understand when someone else behaves
that way. For example: I was surprised at how much safety
in dating is an issue for women because the idea of mistreating
a woman is foreign to my frame of mind. In your example, you
dont understand why he started simply ignoring you after
a few dates because that behavior is no in your way of thinking
(mine either.)
I guess there are two points here. 1. Trying to generalize
men or women doesnt really work becuase they do not all think
and behave the same. 2. Even though you or I may not think
or behave a certain way does not mean that the thoughts and
behaviors that we see and dislike in the other gender are
limited to just men or just women.
People are complicated. I used to think I didnt understand
women. Now I realize that I dont understand people. I can
understand and relate to individuals (including women),
but that is different form being able to understand everyone.
