re: when the picture doesn't match the face

Well, if you meet someone who sent you a picture of themselves
as they appeared more than 4 years ago, and they now look
very different (much larger, bald, much older, whatever)
you are dealing with someone who is not realistic in their
approach to others. Not a liar, just someone who probably
in their own mind doesn't realize they have changed
that much. It happens. If you're not attracted, then
you have the option of saying there's no chemistry,
or that you've thought it over and feel that you're
not right for each other. Or, if you think the person might
be offended and get somewhat loud about it, say that you
don't make snap decisions on a first meeting and you'll
let them know your decision in a day or two, by e-mail.
You should never meet someone alone, always in a very public
place. It's your best insurance for being able to leave
without that person making a spectacle of themselves in
public. If you feel you have to tell this person why you are
no longer interested, then do so by e-mail. You could state
that you thought you were meeting the man/woman in the picture
that was sent, only to find that the real person was very
much changed and not attractive to you. You may come across
as being shallow, but if the person feels the need to deceive
you by sending old photos instead of recent ones, you are
better off not continuing your contact... he/she may also
be deceptive in other areas. If they have nothing to hide,
why not have a recent (month old at the most) photo.
