Could Questions stay in Questions & Articles BE Articles Please?
Hi:
I've always liked your magazine but the quality is
slipping very badly. First of all; the editing staff needs
to really look at the submittals before approval &
posting them. The main problem is that you have to figure
what is an article & what is a question & separate
the two even if they've been posted incorrectly.
That, by the way, is what EDITORS DO.
I can't understand why I'm going into an article
to find a badly BADLY written question & then am asked
to VOTE on whether I liked it or not. What is there to like?
Its a QUESTION and needs NOT to be in the Articles section.
If you are going to give us credit for putting in articles
then they have to BE articles.
Also, please explain to me the way that articles and questions
are picked for the site. Do you ever spell check the things?
Reading some of the questions is to wonder how many people
even took writing in school or finished any kind of secondary
education. Much of what I read couldn't pass a 6th grade
english test much less make it into junior high school.
I don't mind reading stories from other countries
& cultures. I simply would like a little more discernment
based on the writing. Run a spell check, run a grammer check,
DO something for that title. What I'm reading shouldn't
be found on as nice a site as this is. Maybe a chat board or
something but not something that says that it is a magazine.
I'm not going to tell you that I'm just a run of the
mill reader. I'm not. I happen to have had the position
of editor for a few national magazines. That doesn't
make me the arbitor of grammer or the spelling bee champion
of the world but I do want to see articles where there ought
to be articles & questions where there ought to be questions.
It would also be nice to have some kind of notification that
our inputs have been okayed. I'd like to see when my
pieces are voted on. I would also like to see the input to
my points.
So...this started out as a question & is now going into
the regular section of the magazine for your perusal. I
think that you might want to publish it with your answers
below it so that most of us will understand both the process
& your abilities towards fixing what seems to be a broken
system at the moment.
